Dhungala (also known by other names) or The Murray River, is one of the best places in Victoria to find loads of free camping and many free campsites on the Murray are dog friendly. The free camping is predominantly in State Parks and river frontage crown land adjacent to the River.

This is an ongoing article, I will update it with new campsites as I get a chance to visit or source reliable information on camping areas.

**Please note the River can flood and this or another issue can restrict access or result in closure for repairs – always check before travel for updated information (if there is no parks or council updates wikicamps can often have recent comments about open/closures for campgrounds**

The regions are to approximate to allow you to sort the table if need be. Click on the Campground Name to see a bit more information below the table and links to any campground notes.

Safety: River Red Gums are notorious for dropping limbs, do not set up camp under large trees and branches anywhere along the river. Always swim with other people and have a strong swimming skills. Understand how to stay safe in inland Waters.

If your looking to camping near Barmah with dogs this is a good option. You enter from the side of the caravan parks. You get views of the water from your campsite.
