I went on a long awaited (booked pre Covid) holiday to Hamilton Island in late 2022 and I was impressed that basically all restaurants catered for vegans.
However they don’t always have it on their menu as when I emailed to enquire about Romano’s (the Italian Restaurant) they emailed me back a dedicated vegetarian and vegan menu even though there was nothing marked vegan on the regular menu. Hopefully they add these choices into the menu or upload them soon so everyone feels catered for when planning their holiday.
Here are some of the options that were available to enjoy at the time I was on the Island.
Manta Ray
Manta Ray (see menus) I really relaxed but modern restaurant with tables either in a courtyard garden or looking over the marina. I loved my food here as did my sister and her partner who visited a few months later.
They had some main meals that were vegan but I had something similar the night before elsewhere (just by poor planning on my behalf) so chose to have several vegan entrees which were tasty.
Sails Restaurant
Sails (see current menus)A nice easy place to grab lunch on your day of arrival without a booking, sails had a meal or two catering for vegans and has great views over Catseye beach.
It is super casual island dining, and a good place to also grab your first cocktail of the holiday and plan all your adventures.
Coca chu
Coca Chu (see menus on Hamilton Island Website) was the most abundant in their vegan options but the poorest at marking them on the menu (on my visit), the waiter at Coco Chu told me they were able to make a heap of different dishes vegan. It’s full table service to your waiter can explain all the options if there not marked on the menu still when you visit.
Unfortunately I forgot to take photos waaa
The terrace
The Pool Terrace (see menus) is a relaxed poolside restaurant attached to the Reefview hotel that serves meals that are better than pub food but not as fancy as Manta Ray, Romano’s or Coco Chu. I enjoyed my food here both times, particularly the pasta but my foodie families members who are very good cooks preferred places like Manta Ray.
The terrace is popular with families but its also a convenient option if you are staying at the Reef View, especially after big days out on the reef and lazy relaxing evenings.
Pizza
A great lazy options after big days out on a boat trip, a cheaper alternative or just to relax or take to the waterfront or your room, the pizza was delicious and had a vegan cheese option
Hamilton Island Bakery
Amongst the many choices the Hamilton Island bakery had several tasty looking vegan options for an easy lunch.
I actually didn’t get a chance to eat any of the food but I did stop to take photos of the vegan options to add to this post I planned to right.
