Long considered the resort capital of Australia, Port Douglas is home to some of the most luxurious swim out rooms in Australia.

Port Douglas is also a great base for exploring the region – you can jump on a tour or self drive to visit the Daintree, do a crocodile spotting cruise as well as explore Mossman Gorge.

Also make sure you budget to visit the Great Barrier Reef, with trips leaving from nearby Port Douglas Marina.

Where to stay in Port Douglas

Most accommodation in Port Douglas is either in town, or spread out along the beach south of Port Douglas. Shuttle buses run for a small fee from many of the Port Douglas resorts on the beach and out of town.

Port Douglas Resorts with Swim out rooms

Silkari is a very popular choice that books out months in advance in peak season (winter) because they offer hotel room + 1,2 & 3 bedroom swim out rooms that are generally priced lower comparative to other resorts with swim out rooms. So Silkari can be a great value way to stay in a swim out room.

Silkari Port Douglas has 6 lagoon pools and is also only a 5 minute walk from the beach for beach walks and sunsets/sunrises.

It is around 4km from town however there are restaurants options at nearby resorts and you can catch the shuttle to visit restaurants in Port Douglas or at further away resorts. You also have the option to self cater in any of their apartments with kitchens.
