Mission Beach & Cassowary Coast

One of my favourite beach towns in the whole of Australia, Mission Beach has this amazing chilled out vibe. While its fun and busy in the high season (it’s a popular stop with travellers) it becomes much more of a quiet beachside haven in the quieter months.

When I worked near Cairns, I would get in my little car on days off, drive to mission beach, set up my tiny tent and just spend long weekends writing, bushwalking and drinking wine and coffee with beach views. It was heaven.

Mission Beach offers the simple pleasures in life, enjoy sunrise and sunsets on the beach, coffee with incredible views and nearby rainforest to wander and be awed. If you want to get the blood pumping you can climb nearby by Bicton Hill in Clump Mountain National Park for epic views down over the coast.
