Fun Beginner Bike Rides in Victoria

An always growing list of beginner bike rides in Victoria including flat rides, rail trails and beginner mountain bike rides for those new to exercise and absolute beginners. A great place to find ideas if you are new to bike riding and/or are unfit and overweight or obese ( am all those things ha) and want to try a new and fun activity.

Like bushwalking (see my guide to bushwalking for overweight beginners), bike riding can be adjusted for fitness levels and is a great way to get out into nature, with the added bonus of being able to cover more distance than walking.

Tiger Rail Trail in Forrest

A section of the Tiger Rail trail ride goes through bushland

Leaving from the town of Forrest in Victoria, the Tiger Trail Rail is a great beginner bike ride for new riders. It is mostly flat and is approximately 5km one way, going past rural farmland, next to the road and through some patches of bushland.

So you can ride just a short way and turn back, 5km one way if someone can pick you up (you have to walk up a large hill to meet the main road), a 10km return ride to the end and back or fitter/more experienced riders can turn it into a loop by combining it with some of the Forrest MTB tracks. Read more and see photos on the Tiger Rail Trail track notes.

More to come as I visit them 🙂
