Narooma NSW Dog Friendly Travel Guide

Narooma on the South Coast of New South Wales is a great dog-friendly destination for some adventures with your pup!

Here are a few things I found to do on my few nights in Narooma.

Dog friendly Pub/Restaurant Narooma

Narooma Hotel

The Narooma Hotel is a great choice if you are looking for a dog friendly pub/restaurant/bar with dogs allowed outside on the deck.

You and your pup can enjoy their ‘million dollar view’ out over the inlet below.

The food was good, the menu didn’t cater for vegans very well but they were happy to make some adjustments to a vegetarian option. As a pub, there were plenty of good pub meal options for carnivores.

Dog Friendly Accommodation & Camping

Discovery Parks Narooma

I stayed at Discovery Parks Narooma which has both dog-friendly camping and dog friendly cabin accommodations.

See my notes and more photos from my stay or book their 2-bedroom dog friendly Cabins online below.

Dog-friendly things to do around Narooma

Dog Friendly Walks

There are a few dog-friendly walks in the Bodalla State Forest close to Narooma. NSW has ticks so make sure your dog is up to date with treatment.

I loved the rainforest walk however my dog had insect bites on her feet that night (we had a late night vet visit because she was freaking out) – hard to know if they were connected it was many hours and activities later but might be worth wearing booties if your dog has them to avoid insects and leeches which were around.

Hire a boat or Canoe

Head to Narooma Marina and hire a dog-friendly boat (no licence required) or a canoe – they even have doggy life jackets to borrow!

You don’t have to fish, it was just nice to be out on the water enjoying the views and birds.

Be mindful that the deck has that weird plastic-holed texture (like the metal at some lookouts) that can freak dogs out. Dusty was not happy by the time we lifted her onto the boat, were were prepared to come back after a few minutes if she was still stressed but as soon as the boat started moving she loved it – like a giant car window!

Reactive dog notes: There are 3 small resident off lead dogs that call the Marina Home and may be around when you visit.

Bar Rock Lookout

Nice vews over the coast and while other websites said you could spot seals we unfortunately did not on the day we visited (though it was pretty rough weather so it’s possible we just couldn’t see them).

Dog Friendly Beaches

Like much of the NSW coast unfortunately the calm river beaches are generally not off lead but there are other off-lead beaches for dogs around Narooma.
